Every four or five years a company replaces its computer fleet, and in between it repairs them, installs software and loses data from laptops. A cloud workspace moves all of that to a server.
What it is
A cloud workspace is an employee’s Windows desktop running on a server in a data center. The employee connects to it from any device — an old laptop, a tablet, a thin client — and sees their own applications, files and settings. All computing happens on the server; the device just displays the image.
How it differs from a VPS
A VPS is a server you manage yourself. A workspace is a ready-to-use desktop for a specific person: with applications, support, backups and access rights, billed per user per day. Technically it’s a terminal server, but you don’t need to think about that.
The numbers for 10 employees
| Item | Office PCs, 3 years | “Accounting & CRM” cloud workspaces, 3 years |
|---|---|---|
| Hardware | 10 PCs at 6–8 million = 60–80 million UZS | any devices, including existing ones |
| Maintenance | on-call specialist | included |
| Windows and RDS CAL licenses | purchased by the company | purchased by the client — MYCLOUD does not provide or sell them |
| Backups of work data | usually none | included, daily |
| Monthly fee | — | 10 × 8 000 × 30 = 2.4 million UZS |
| Total over 3 years | ≈ 90–120 million UZS | ≈ 86 million UZS + devices you keep |
The figures are comparable, but the cloud option has no upfront investment, computers don’t need replacing, and data doesn’t live on laptops. The main savings aren’t in hardware but in avoiding downtime and data loss.
Who sees the fastest payback
- Companies with high turnover and seasonal staff. A workspace is created in an hour and deleted in a minute — no buying and setting up a computer.
- Remote and distributed teams. The accountant at home, a manager at a branch office, the director on a business trip — all in the same environment.
- Businesses with sensitive data. Customer databases and documents aren’t copied to personal devices; a departing employee loses access instantly.
- Offices with an aging computer fleet. Heavy applications run on the server — five-year-old computers are fast again.
Who it’s not for
Video editing, 3D and heavy graphics are jobs for local workstations. There’s a plan with dedicated resources for design and analytics, but a cloud desktop isn’t designed for video rendering. You also need a stable internet connection: 1 Mbps per user is the minimum.
How to try it
The minimum order is three workspaces; setup takes 1–2 days. Start with one department — accounting or sales — and after a month decide whether to move the rest. Billing is daily, and you can cancel any day.
