Remote Hands: why you need “hands” in the data center when your server is already looked after

A server in a data center is great right up until it needs a hard reboot, a disk replacement, or someone to check what’s lit up on the panel. You don’t have to drive across town at 3 a.m.

What’s included in colocation for free

• A hard reboot of the server on request — on business days from 09:00 to 18:00; at other times it’s paid, 100 000 UZS per hour.
• Visual inspection: indicators, fan noise, what the console shows.
• Link check and patch cord reconnection.
• Photos of the front and rear panels on request.

What’s ordered as Remote Hands

• Replacing disks, memory modules or power supplies — from your spare parts or from our stock.
• Connecting a KVM or IP-KVM so you can see the screen yourself and enter the BIOS.
• OS installation from an image, RAID setup, firmware updates.
• Mounting and dismounting equipment, re-cabling, cable labeling.
• Receiving and handing over equipment to couriers, storing spare parts in the data center.

How fast

During business hours an engineer is on site: reboot, inspection and component replacement requests are usually completed within an hour. Outside business hours, the engineer’s arrival time is arranged for each request. Work outside business hours (weekdays after 18:00, weekends and public holidays) is billed at 100 000 UZS per hour.

How to submit a request so it’s done right the first time

1. Specify the rack/unit number and the server name as it’s labeled.
2. Describe exactly what to do and what the result should be (“replace the disk in slot 3, indicator is amber; after replacement, report the serial number”).
3. If a USB stick needs to be inserted or a KVM connected, say where to get the media or which image to load.
4. Leave a contact who will be reachable during the work.

What can’t be ordered

The engineer doesn’t make changes inside your OS and applications without a separate administration agreement — Remote Hands is about the physical side: buttons, cables, disks, console. If you need “someone inside the system”, that’s our server administration service.

Cost

On weekdays from 09:00 to 18:00, Remote Hands work is included in colocation — up to 2 hours of engineer time per month, with an unlimited number of requests. Time beyond the limit, as well as work in the evening, at night, on weekends and public holidays, is billed at 100 000 UZS per hour, with a minimum charge of 1 hour.
